If you like to be in the heart of the historic centre, then look no further than the new Heritage harbour in the middle of Rotterdam.
Crammed with historic ships there is also space for everyday visitors in the Haringvliet section of the docks. The moorings are accessed from the Nieuwe Maas, just east of the Willemsbrug, via two lifting bridges, the Boetrengatbrug and the Oostbrug, on VHF 20. You need to give 30 minutes notice and call the harbour master prior on 06 52663289 so he can find you a berth. Bridges operate 24 hours except for rush hour periods at 7-9am and 4-5.30pm. Overnight moorings are charged at €1.80/metre per night, with rates for longer stays negotiable.
There are good facilities including a launderette and free wifi and the moorings are close to shopping facilities and all the attractions of the city centre. Just a two minute walk away is the Oude Haven, packed with bars and restaurants and the famous Piet Blom cube houses, and in the other direction, the Maritime Museum.
