This route was requested by a site user for a delivery trip so I have made the daily legs fairly long and suggested only a limited number of stopovers.
Total length is 207km and I have divided it into 5 legs which would be quite a full day’s cruising each day although some of the legs are longer than others! There are lots of other places to stop en-route, including the free visitors harbours on the Maas, although some of these are not recommended for overnighting. The advantage of tackling this route in the direction Roermond to Rotterdam is that the current on the Maas and then the Waal will always be in your favour.
A slightly quicker passage could be achieved by taking the Maas-Waalkanaal from Mook to Nijmegen and then following the Waal to Zaltbommel, before again picking up the route shown here, although this would involve negotiating some strong currents and cruising amongst very heavy commercial traffic, so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you were in a tearing hurry.
